Agua de Coco

The first time I went to the Philippines I visited one of my uncles in Laguna. We had lunch on a coconut farm that belongs to my aunt's family. There's a picture of me floating around the internets climbing a coconut tree, and my weak attempt at splitting one open on a huge spade thing. One of the workers took the harvested coconuts and "made" buko juice, which is the water from the coconut and lots of the meat. I think it's best eaten in the shell, with a straw and spoon.

It'll be another 8 months or so before I can enjoy buko juice again, but I can get by with agua de coco. There are probably other brands, but I tend to buy this one, and it comes with bits of coconut!
