I did indeed bake some pies with the apples that I picked from Altamont Orchards. Aside from eating a bunch of them and giving them away to family, I ended up making three pies and two quarts of applesauce.
I had been talking it up about making everything from scratch, but when push came to shove… I gave in and bought the pie dough. And as you can see, I didn’t cover the crust, which led to it almost burning. Not to mention I didn’t do the wash thing.
My mom brought this pie to one of her dance practices. From what I hear it went over well, and there was some “fighting” over who could being the last few slices home! I’m a little disappointed that the pie sunk so much – that was a deep dish pie, but it doesn’t look like it at all.
