The Brown Bag's Pineapple Bacon Burger

What do you do when the sky lights up and there's nothing but downpour?

You eat a burger. And let me tell you, that was one really good burger.

The Brown Bag **UPDATE**

It has been a little over a week since we were here last, and I’ve noticed some things:

1. More staff. The first time we were there it was just two people and a whole lot of customers. Tonight, there were two more guys – one manning the stove, the other at the grill. Perhaps they just work the weekends to help with the high volume.
2. More seating. When we walked in, the place was empty, save for one guy at the counter. Because it wasn’t full, I got a better look at the sitting situation. There’s a couch, which I don’t remember from before. But it could have been there all along, and the people from before could have moved it to accommodate their group. I’m not sure how much more you can add to it before it starts getting crowded.
3. Game selection. Not that you can see all of them there, but you have your choice of: Connect 4, Checkers, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Whatzit?, and a couple others I can’t remember.
4. Christmas tree. I am really slacking on putting ours up.
5. Regulars. It looks like there are some now. Good sign.
6. How I take my burger. No cheese. Sautéed onions, lettuce, tomato, and ketchup. So good. As I’ve gotten older, my ability to inhale food has diminished, but not tonight. M had a grilled cheese again, but this time he added tomato. Thumbs up from him.
7. Location. This may be premature thinking, but this couldn’t be in a more perfect location. There are the bars down the street, and the new dorms (er, student housing) a couple of blocks up. It’s right on a bus line, and so far no problems with finding parking.

 Before I had to go across the river for some late night/night out eating. Now it looks like I won’t have to.

You Call That A Side?! Stateline Diner (Mahwah, NJ)

After bowling on Saturday M and I met up with A at the Stateline Diner on Route 17 in Mahwah, NJ. I ordered a Black and Bleu burger deluxe platter, M had a breakfast platter, and A ordered two eggs scrambled with a side of feta.

Look at that feta... it's bigger than her order of eggs! I took a few more comparison photos, and we discovered her side of feta was the same size as my burger, and M's rye toast.

My burger was excellent, but the fries were obviously old and had that chock full of grease look to them. It also came with coleslaw and two pickles, but M ate them before I could get a bite.

 

 

There was so much feta cheese and my friend ended up taking the rest home. It was pretty cheap too, I think it set her back a couple of dollars.

Fifteen in the Minivan Cab

Cab back to campus. Drunk frosh coming from Bogies/Michael's/Sadie's. Annoying as hell, espeically the one who kept insisting his right knee "blew up." At least it was a three dollar ride.
