Repeat

2010-12-22-13-44-51-688

I ended up eating Chipotle two days in a row. Not that I haven’t done that before, but it just seems wrong. There are so many other places I want to try out.

But then again… it’s fast. And tasty.

Is it just me, or are their portions smaller?

Albany’s Chipotle

IMG_20101021_135841

Made a quick visit to the Capital Region yesterday! Most of the time was spent running around taking care of things so I can apply for jobs (a.k.a. forking over the dough to get official transcripts that may not even be asked for). Before dropping M off at work, we headed over to Stuyvesant Plaza and ate lunch at Chipotle. Ordered the usuals, and they tasted as they ought to.

An Unresolved Issue

2010-08-01 19.58.10

So I wrote before about my visit to the Wilton Chipotle and their brown guacamole. Well, M and I went back on our way up to Queensbury and it happened again. There was a huge tub of guacamole, and most of the top layer was brown. I’m not saying it didn’t taste good (because it did) but that it's not something I want to see when I’m on the line ordering food.

Perhaps they should think about making a smaller batch. The place was empty when we stopped in… completely different than the scene in Latham. And I don’t remember having a guacamole issue there.

I changed things up a bit and ordered the tacos with barbacoa. Apparently I told M I would just have one.

This is what ended up happening. In the amount of time M ate a handful of chips and guacamole, I inhaled three tacos. They were so delicious… I think I shall order this again. I can’t guarantee I won’t scarf them down immediately, though.

Would It Be Bad

If I said I wanted to go back to Chipotle again today? Just for chips and salsa. And maybe a bowl of rice and black beans.

Oh and M... if you're reading this at work- can hit up Chopper after work? We're out of beer and I don't think my car can handle the drive.

Upstate Fun

Memorial Day weekend was great, wasn't it? I sacrificed sleep so I could enjoy the great weather. M and I checked out a bunch of estate/yard/garage sales, but we bought nothing (although M should have bought that electric toy organ! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME!).

We ended up taking a hike at some park. I don't remember the name, but it's near Eagle Mills? I need to keep a can of bug spray in the car... just a little too buggy for my tastes.

Vanilla cones from McD's. Nice twist, not so nice height (I need to compile that vanilla cone list).

The plan was to just go to Wilton for some Chipotle, but I drove on the wrong 9. Lake George was nice, but too crowded for my tastes. M needed to go to the arcade, and we won a whopping 13 tickets. You really can't get anything with so few tickets, so we just left it on one of the machines. To the person who found it- you're welcome.

Before heading back to Troy, we had our Chipotle fix. They should have considered putting in an outdoor dining area. The food was okay, but the guacamole was browning. Shame on you, Wilton.

Recent Eats

For not having a lot to do... I sure have a lot to do. And it's taking a toll on my blogging. I have a backlog of posts and photos that will be posted at some point. I think once my final is over I'll have a bit more time to get things in order (just a bit since my program starts in a month and all hell will break loose).

I headed upstate early last week, the reason being was that I wanted to grab a free burrito from Chipotle. That never happened, but I am near so many Chipotle's downstate that it's not that big of a deal. I can wait until they open up in Latham later this year.

On Friday, M and I had dinner with one of M's friends. It was a very last minute decision, and I'm surprised I agreed to go, since it would cut into my nap before work. We headed over to Delmar and ate at The Hidden Cafe. It was about 6:45 when we arrived and the place was packed.

According to the Times Union website, they have THC pricing at one dollar sign ($). Maybe they've had a recent menu change, or $ doesn't mean what I think it means. It seems to be $1/2-$$.

We started with stuffed grape leaves, which I am really beginning to like. THC grape leaves weren't bad, but the rice was a bit mushy. My entree came with a salad that was too peppery. If you get their Greek Salad, watch out for this. I tried to coat all of the greens with the dressing, but as I got to the bottom of the bowl it just got impossible.

My entree was a pasta dish with chicken, I can't remember the name. It was alright, but maybe just a bit salty. I ate about half of it and finished the rest the next day. M ordered the Greek salad and he agreed that it was too peppery. But he ate it all, what a sport. L had the grilled chicken salad, but I don't think she liked it too much since she left half of it on her plate.

I don't want to give up on this place, especially since I heard good things about it from people. Maybe lunch would be a safer bet.

Saturday we had an early dinner with our regular dinner partners H&J. We ended up heading to Clifton Park to eat at Bellini's. They have another restaurant in Slingerlands that I used to go to years ago, and enjoyed very much. The Clifton Park location is HUGE compared to the one in Slingerlands, and I think they may have rooms in the back for parties. Nice.

If you're interested, they have a four course dinner options for $20 (pastas) and $25 (entrees). You get soup or salad, mozzarella covered garlic bread, meal, and dessert. Everyone except M went with the four course option. He picked the Margherita pizza. H and I went with the linguine with mussels and clams. Not bad. J went with the gnocchi, a dish he's had there before. For dessert we went with the stanards- cannolis and cheesecake.

I think I'm coming down with dessert overload. Perhaps I need to shift my attention to the gelato at Crisan? The weather is warming up... it may be necessary.

No, Not Too Much

A and I went on a Chipotle run. We went to the Clifton store (I now know there is one in Paramus... come on Rockland!) and what you see if my lunch. Vegetarian burrito bol, vegetarian soft tacos, bag of chips, and a drink.

I ate everything but the chips. I finished those off when I got home.
