The Lenten season is upon us. Did I remember to abstain from meat yesterday (Ash Wednesday)? Yeah, after I chowed down on longanisa for breakfast. Whoops.
Over the years I have become more non-practising of my faith. And while I don't go through the routine (attend masses and the like), I am inclined to practice certain things, like giving something up for Lent and refraining from eating meat on Fridays during that time.
Religion a la carte. Roman Catholicism lite.
Over dinner last night, my friend Mike (who is just as non-practising) and I discussed what we would give up until Easter. Between the two of us, I am being serious and picking things that I will truly miss- french fries and chocolate. I was toying around with the idea of soda as well, but I need the sweetened caloric carbonation. But who knows, maybe I will tack it on later once I figure out how to kick the cola habit.
Yes, I can tack it on later.

giving up soda sounds like a bad idea. chocolate and french fries sounds like enough
