Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night

This is actually about last night, but the title still works.

Down here, Tuesday is wing night. The places of note are OD's in Nyack and Sutters Mill in Suffern. Yes, I know there is a Sutters up in Albany as well, and if memory serves me right... their wing night is on Wednesdays.

Sutters is always busy on Tuesday nights, and more often than not jam packed with high school kids (back in the day I used to do the exact same thing), so I try to avoid it as much as possible. OD's on the other hand, is fan-freakin-tastic. You get the old man bar vibe (which I am totally down with) and decent food to wash down your alcohol with. And they've got a cute cartoon beer mascot.

It's 15 cent wings all day Tuesday, and after 11PM on Fridays and Saturdays. They tend to get busy between 7-9, so be prepared to wait. Mags and I stopped by last night after 10, and the dining area had emptied out quite a bit. Our server took our drink orders while we took a look at the menu. I think after 10 they only serve from the front part of the menu, which is still quite a bit to choose from. Appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches... and of course their desserts.

Since it was already pretty late I just went with ten wings. Sauce on side, no blue cheese, carrots or celery. And a couple of beers to wash it down. Mags had five wings (sauce on), and a cheese quesadilla. Great way to end the night.

Temptations (Nyack, NY)

I gave the cupcakes and coffee at Temptations a second chance. It failed yet again.

I picked the coconut cupcake this time, but the end result was the same. The cake was extremely dry and the icing too sweet. The coconut was the sweetened kind, so another layer of sweet. The coffee was burnt and hard to finish. I was only able to polish off half of my cupcake, and A readily finished off the other half. She ordered the peppermint ice cream which she thought was pretty good.

Why You Should Eat In Nyack

Flourless chocolate cake with a Guiness creme anglaise. Made by Mary, the resident maker of all things sweet at O'Donohuges. Love this cake. I look for it whenever I visit OD's, but they usually run out of it before I get there.

A Visit to Potato Republic (New City, NY)

I haven't been to Potato Republic since the summer. If you read my blog back then, you would know that it wasn't the best visit. Enough time has passed and M has never been there so we stopped by on Sunday before going to Nyack Beach State Park.

They were semi-busy when we had lunch. There were a couple of large parties when we arrived, and had left not too long after we sat down. The server was quickly over to clear off our table (I didn't even notice it was dirty, but kudos to the server for cleaning it anyways) and take our drink orders.

We had a double order of the Belgian fries with Jamaican curry and Garlic dipping sauces. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the roasted veggie wrap, M ordered the tomato mozzarella wrap. Less than ten minutes later our food was out and it was quite tasty. The fries were a tad overcooked, but not greasy at all. We finished our lunch with an Old Fashioned cupcake that tasted good. It was a little gooey in the middle... I don't know if that was on purpose or not, but still tasty.

Service was much better this time round. It was a different server, I guess this places goes through plenty of them. Very efficient, no wait time at all.

Lunch for two came out to ~$22.00.

Nyack Beach was super cold, and chock full of frozen ice. Pretty.
