Can't Stop

I'm not really a chip eater anymore, but ohmyohmy... I finished these off in one sitting.
Good thing they were on sale.

Jets - Vikings
If I had to pick a team to root for other than my beloved Steelers, I’d have to go with the Jets. The reasons behind this are simple:
- M is a Jets fan (although I know deep down he’s still rooting for the Detroit Lions).
- M gets us tickets to Jets home games. Monday night games, no less.

Left Behind
Went to the Yankees-Rays game with my dad last night. We got there late, but just in time for the rain delay. I don’t know exactly how long that rain delay was, but I guess it was long enough to make people just go home. When it finally stopped (the game resumed at 10:05), we sat down in our seats and watched the Yankees bullpen self-destruct. Lots of homeruns, and I’m pretty sure Gaudin was the pitcher that gave up the back-to-back homers.
It was around this point (I just had to find something else to look at) I noticed all the things that people left in their seats during the rain delay. Particularly, lots of unopened things. Like this bag of chips, which probably went for five bucks. There were also several unopened bottles of Sierra Mist. I don’t know about you, but I would have brought that stuff with me.

Malta Drive-In Theatre (Malta, NY)
I’m really starting to like the drive-in. Two movies for less than the price of one, and I get to watch them with a nice starry back drop. Not that it doesn’t have its drawbacks (SUVs parked in car parking, people making loud obnoxious phone calls… and the mosquitoes), but it’s still a fun thing to do in the summer.
The concession stand. Normally when I go to the movies I refrain from getting food because there’s not much space for it in a packed room. In your own car… different story. And I was pretty hungry that night, and everything sounded good. The prices seemed reasonable enough, and definitely much cheaper than a regular theater.
What I ended up ordering – large bucket of popcorn, chips with nacho cheese, a large drink and… DEEP FRIED OREOS! I’ve never had them before, and they were selling it. I just had to try it. They also have fried Twinkies, which I am definitely interested in. I was going to get a huge bag of Twizzlers, but M put his foot down. I think this ended up costing about 16 dollars. Not too bad.
Popcorn was pretty salty, and that’s with me not adding any. Definitely not enough cheese to go with the chips, and while I was excited to eat fried Oreos… it could have used chocolate syrup. The batter they used tasted exactly like the batter some restaurants used for their fried ice cream. I need to know what this stuff is. It’s good. The Oreo itself was slightly soggy, but I guess that’s to be expected. I want to bite into a fried Oreo and have the cookie still crisp. But that just means I’ll have to make them for myself.
In time.
And if you were wondering, we watched Inception and Eclipse. Inception was good, and it literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat, in anticipation of what would happen next. And Eclipse? Team Jacob’s body.

Hollywood Drive-In Theatre
I've never been to a drive-in before. There was never a need, and being that I grew up in the urban sprawl... they just didn't exist in my world. Until I moved upstate, and every time it was suggested I shot it down. Why bother watching movies in a car when a sit down theater is so much easier? Plus there's that whole sit down theater experience that you don't get in a car, but we don't need to go into a whole debate about things like that.
Saturday M and I kept going back and forth on what to do for the evening. Most of the events didn't appeal to us, but we needed to get out of the apartment (I had been playing a video game that I will not name because it's still not out yet and I don't want to get in trouble... but it's awesome and cannot wait until I can get it on my Wii down here). Watching movies are a pretty safe bet, so M looked up showtimes.
"Do you think the drive-in is open?"
"I don't see why not. What's playing?"
"Um... Toy Story 3 and the A-Team."
"uuuuuuugh. Okay, I guess so."
The Hollywood Drive-In is about a 15-20 minute drive from M's apartment, right off of Route 66. I know you have to pass by Jack's Drive-In and Okinawa to get there... which I forgot was there when I was thinking of something to eat for the movies.
When you go in, they do give you a menu of foods offered at the concession stand, along with the theater rules and a plastic bag for your trash. They offer the same things that you would find at other theater concession stands- popcorn, french fries, nachos, hot dogs, etc. The building that houses the food also has the bathrooms. FYI, the line gets long during intermission... so hit it early, or if you're brave enough, use the portables.
I was planning on buying some popcorn. I really was. But I went evil and got Taco Bell. And sneaked it in. It was good... tasty even in its unhealthy, forbidden glory.
The movies? Toy Story 3 was cute, A-Team was... let's not go there.

Skittles!
How do they decide how much of each color goes into every package? Instead of gobbling it all up like I normally do, I went ahead and did a count. Here are the results:
Red - 15
Yellow - 13
Orange - 13
Green - 9
Purple - 8

Is It Kosher?
Why yes... it is.
It is a common
Back to the picture above. This day was an exceptionally long day, so long that I started losing my mind and now I have a tumblr page. Near the end of one presentation, they started distributing food, which I paid no attention to... until these chips came my way.
I've never really had good experiences with kosher food. I worked at a facility that was Kosher and the bringing of non-Kosher food was a big no-no (but we did it anyways). The meals they provided always seemed to be missing something (coughcoughflavorcoughcough) and almost always undercooked (especially the chicken). These chips? Okay, but it seemed very taste muted.
I ate my handful and refused additional helpings. My classmates on the other hand, kept on eating.
Obviously, hunger beats out taste any day.
